The Daily News

Founded in 1919, Daily News is a daily tabloid newspaper that covers the city of New York, and once had the highest circulation of any newspaper in the world. Known for its sensational stories of crime, scandal and violence, the Daily News attracted readers by its use of lurid photographs, cartoons and entertainment features. The News also covered political wrongdoing, such as the Teapot Dome Scandal and social intrigue, such as Wallis Simpson’s romance with King Edward VIII that led to his abdication.

Today, the newspaper has a global audience and focuses on delivering a fast, accurate and engaging report on the most important stories of the day. Its award-winning writers, columnists and opinion formers bring you the very best live coverage of national and local news and New York exclusives. They are passionate about the city of New York, its people and its politics, and no one covers the Yankees, Mets, Giants and Jets like Daily News.

The paper’s editorial board is fiercely independent and often takes a contrarian view of the most popular issues of the day. The editorial stance of the News has fluctuated over time, but is generally moderate to liberal. It is often compared to the more conservative rival New York Post.

In addition to daily newspapers, the News publishes several annual special issues including the Yale-Harvard game day issue and Commencement edition, as well as a monthly magazine called WKND. The News also publishes a number of community newspapers for the Yale-New Haven communities, in collaboration with Yale’s cultural centers and affiliated student groups.

With a Daily News subscription, you can access the entire newspaper online, on your computer or mobile device. The Digital Edition offers the full newspaper experience, including all the pages of the print publication, along with interactive features designed to enhance your reading experience. In addition, you can easily download the edition for offline reading and share news articles with friends through email.
